Airbus or Eurofighter ? What's your investment strategy?

Posted By: Admin

An Airbus a380 is on it's way across the Atlantic. It flies consistently at a cruising speed of  800 km/h at 35,000 feet, when suddenly a Eurofighter with Tempo Mach 2 appears.

The  young pilot of the fighter jet slows down, flies alongside the Airbus and greets the experienced pilot of the passenger plane by radio: "Airbus flight, boring flight isn’t it?

Now have a look here !

He rolls his jet on its back, accelerates, breaks through the sound barrier, rises rapidly to a dizzying height, then swoops down almost to sea level in a breathtaking dive. He loops back next to the Airbus and asks, "Well, how was that?"

The Airbus pilot answers: "Very impressive, but now you look !"

The jet pilot watches the Airbus, but nothing happens. It continues to fly stubbornly straight, with the same speed. After 15 minutes, the Airbus pilot radios, "Well, how was that?"

Confused, the jet pilot asks, "What did you do? I did not see any movement at all , the airbus was flying just as before.. so I am confused". The AirBus pilot laughs and says, "I got up, stretched my legs, walked back to the aircraft to use the bathroom, then got a cup of coffee,  a chocolate fudge pastry and shared a joke with my crew and got back to my seat.

The moral of this story is:When you are young, speed and adrenaline seems to be your need. But as you get older and wiser you learn that comfort and peace are equally important parameters than just speed.

In the investment world too, when  you are young, you want to take big risks, make quick money, you need adrenaline based action in all things you do.. so you are looking at Bitcoins even if it is extremely volatile or are looking at investing in stocks that give you a multi bagger in the quickest possible time.

But as you grow older and become wiser with age, you realize that it is not just the speed or the adrenaline, but also the peace of mind and the comfort of managing the investments that become equally an important parameter. Your ability to take risk while still intact, the way in which you want it to pan out is very different from your younger days. You are willing to wait for returns to accrue to you and you do not jump at every opportunity and are willing to be patient in generating your rewards.

So as in flying, so too in investing, it is what you want that matters…. Do you want fast action or may be slow but steady accretion to your portfolio ? Choose wisely , be mindful.
